Privacy Policy

MatCap (“MatCap,” “we,” “us”) helps pre-seed founders raise money by sending warm intro requests to investors on their behalf and supporting the rest of the raise. This policy explains what information we collect when you use matcap.vc, our founder portal, our events, and our text messaging program, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact and account details — your name, email address, phone number, company name, and login details.
- Application and company information — answers you give when you apply (on the web, by voice interview, or by text), your pitch deck, company blurb, fundraising details, and similar materials.
- Fundraising and CRM data — investors you add to your portal, notes, meeting outcomes, and the updates you report to us.
- Onboarding documents — information needed to complete paperwork you ask us to help with, such as 83(b) election details.
- Messages — emails and text messages you send to us, and recordings or transcripts of practice sessions you choose to run.
- Event registrations — details you provide when you sign up for a MatCap event.
Information from connected accounts
If you choose to connect a Google account (for example, Google Calendar so we can see when an investor meeting happened), we access only the data needed for that feature. See Google user data below.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our site we collect standard technical information such as your browser type, device, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from your IP address, through server logs and Google Analytics.
2. How we use information
- To review your application and provide the MatCap program to you.
- To send intro requests to investors on your behalf, follow up on them, and track how they turn out.
- To communicate with you by email and, if you opt in, by text message about your application, intros, meetings, and the program.
- To prepare, sign, and file documents you ask us to help with.
- To run events you register for.
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve our services, including using AI tools to draft messages, summarize information, and match founders with relevant investors.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Text messaging (SMS)
If you text our number or give us your phone number and agree to receive texts, we use your phone number and the content of our text conversation only to communicate with you about your MatCap application and participation in the program. Program details, message frequency, and opt-out instructions are in our Terms and Conditions. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and get help by replying HELP.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. The sharing described in Section 4 excludes this information, other than with the text messaging provider we use solely to deliver messages to you.
4. How information is shared
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share information only in these limited ways:
- With investors, at your direction. Making introductions is the core of what we do. When we request an intro on your behalf, we share the founder and company information that request needs — typically your name, company, blurb, and deck — with that investor. We do not share your phone number or text messages with investors.
- With service providers. We use trusted vendors to run our service, and they may process information only on our behalf and under our instructions: hosting (Fly.io), email and workspace (Google, Postmark), text messaging (Twilio), AI processing (Anthropic), certified mail for document filings (Lob), practice-session video (Tavus), and website analytics (Google Analytics).
- For legal reasons. If required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of MatCap, our users, or others.
- In a business transfer. If MatCap is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
- With your consent. In any other case where you ask us to or agree to it.
5. Google user data
If you connect a Google account, we use the data we receive only to provide the feature you connected it for — for example, reading calendar events to recognize meetings with investors. We do not use Google user data for advertising, do not sell it, and do not allow humans to read it except with your permission, for security purposes, or as required by law. MatCap’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect access at any time from your Google account settings.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and, through Google Analytics, to understand how our site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; parts of the portal may not work without them. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.
7. Retention and security
We keep information for as long as you use MatCap and as needed afterward to meet legal, accounting, and record-keeping obligations or resolve disputes. We protect information with reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access, correction, deletion. Email us to request a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it. We may keep information we are legally required to retain.
- Email. Use the unsubscribe link in program emails, or contact us.
- Text messages. Reply STOP to any message to opt out.
- Connected accounts. Disconnect a Google account at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. We will honor them as the law requires, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
9. Children
MatCap is intended for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above, and for material changes we will give notice through the site or by email.
